Hystorians wrote that Dyonisius often demonstrated to have no respect for the Gods because he used to plunder the Syracusan temples as with those in conquered cities with the same atrocities of an enemy during a war. It's said, for example that he plundered the temple of Persephone, Goddess of the Underworld in Locri (Calabria), and that in Olimpia he' d stolen the statue's golden cloak in the temple of Zeus and also the golden beard from Asklipius' s and Epidaurus' s statues.
